Very Biased Search
I was looking for some free photo management software for my Mac. iPhoto has a nice description but I don’t want to buy iLife and store my data at yet another service. Too bad all these services don’t really understand web services, that is the topic for another day. So I tried a search on Google and it was hard to understand why the top result for the following query, mac photo manager software free, is Picasa. I clearly had mac as a criteria.

Anyway I clicked on the first link and to my surprise, Google is happy to download a .exe file to my Mac. Simple is nice, but sometimes it is overdone. Since I did click download, it would have been reasonable IMO to look at my browser string and tell me no Mac version, download anyway.
